Thriving For Excellence

“It is not how many times that we fall that counts but how many times we get the courage to stand up…and keep moving forward”

I fell, so many times…thinking about it; my falls started at a very tender age and it did hurt as I kept wondering, why? With lots of disappointments at the situation that I believed (then) contributed to all my falls. Of course, I was young with very limited knowledge, skills and wisdom; even worse – no imagination of how great I AM. I was just young; physically, mentally and spiritually, with no sense of who I AM. You know that moment, when you just don’t know if you are going or coming? Vulnerable and ashamed?

Somehow, I managed to pick-up the pieces after many more falls. You know that split of a second when you look back and wonder how you made it this far? Of course, with lots of emotional wounds and scars; FEAR, ANGER, HURT, GUILT and SADNESS – drained; physically, mentally and spiritually as I longed for some healing and comfort. This can be too much, if you know what I am talking about. In the same emotional exposure, something within me kept whispering “you are created with greatness, you are great and great things are yours”. Most of the time our greatness get clouded by the current and sadly past circumstances and situations that we find ourselves in for that given moment and we completely lose touch with who we really are; losing our value, dignity and ultimately our Heavenly given identity. Be reminded of your greatness and who you really are!

You know that moment when you get reminded of who you really are and your greatness? It happened to me with no option of giving-up, I could not give-up and I can’t give-up…giving-up is not an option at all! I persisted on and on…for a moment I thought I had it but I fell again…It did hurt more than the previous years with even deeper emotional wounds and scars; FEAR, ANGER, HURT, GUILT and SADNESS! With whole lots of disappointments…can it just get easier? Same question, why? With lots of dissatisfaction still – this time at myself, not the situation, my past nor the color of my skin. “Where did I go wrong?” hoping for a clear answer … “you are created with great greatness, you are great and great things are yours.. you are blessed, blessings are yours and you are a blessing”

With some spiritual, mental and physical maturity I started appreciating my falls and I just had. to look back:

  1. To acknowledge my falls and appreciate my persistence and courage to thrive through each adversity
  2. To take full responsibility of my life (including the falls) and learn positive lessons from every experience
  3. Use every experience for self-empowerment and self-mastery
  4. Appreciate the fact that every fall was at a different level of growth and be grateful of my life journey
  5. Celebrate and enjoy life as I let my hope and faith shape my future not my wounds and scars

At times it is just a matter of looking back to appreciate the small and ordinary things out of every given experience and just move-on. This is life hey, we will fall and it is okay as long as we do fall at a higher level thus demonstrating change, transformation and growth. Just don’t fall in the circle of being trapped on the same level again and again.

Join me on the next Persistent Talk Session “Thriving Through Adversity” as we work around the how part of it, it is possible.
